Growers demand Balochistan Govt to waive off power bills for 1 year

QUETTA: The growers’ action committee Balochistan has demanded of the Balochistan government to waive off power bills for one year after the flood wreaked havoc across the province. The growers’ action committee staged a protest demonstration outside the Balochistan Assembly to mount pressure on the government to waive off electricity bills.

Haji Abdul Rehman Bazai, Syed Abdul Qahar Agha, and others led the protesters. The growers were demanding of the Balochistan government to announce a special package in the aftermath of recent floods.

Growers suffer huge financial losses: Shahwani

“Growers suffered huge financial losses”, Malik Naseer Shahwani, the parliamentary leader of the Balochistan National Party (Mengal) said. He said the opposition parties and the coalition government were making hectic efforts to provide relief to the affected growers.

“Federal government should announce a special package for the flood-affected people of Balochistan”, Mir Asadullah Baloch, the Provincial Minister for Agriculture said. He said the compensation to the affected growers was beyond the capacity of the provincial government.

The growers chanted full-thraoted slogans against the government for its failure to provide relief for the growers. Later on, the provincial ministers Mir Asadullah Baloch, MPAs Asghar Tareen, Malik Naseer Shahwani, Hamal Kalmati and others met with growers. The lawmakers assured the protesting growers about the resolution of their problems.
