Chief of Gwadar Rights Movement (GRM), Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman has lashed out at the Balochistan government for what he called its failure to solve issues relating to Gwadar. The protest demonstration by the GRM entered into the 12th day at the main chowk in Gwadar to press the government for acceptance of its demands. 

“Ministers and bureaucrats continue to deceive the people of Gwadar”, the Maulana said. He said the government has declared Gwadar a calamity-hit district thrice but practically, it (the government) has failed to address the problems of the masses. Although, the member provincial assembly from Gwadar, Mir Hamal Kalmati in a statement said the issues of the protesters would be addressed. “Government has launched a massive development projects in the district”, Mr. Kalmati said.

Sit-in enters 12th day in Gwadar

A large number of people are participating in the sit-in being staged at the main Gwadar Chowk. The Maulana also declared Hussain Wadila as the chief of the GRM. The protesters blocked the main chowk and chanted full-throated slogans against the Gwadar administration and the provincial government.

Maulana lashed out at the federal and provincial governments for what he claimed their failure to stop illegal trawling in the Gwadar sea. “Our lives and finances are linked with this sea”, he said, adding that the trawlers mafia at the behest of some elements was trying to snatch this.

GRM activists vow to mount pressure on the government

GRM Chief said the government has to waive off electricity bills of the people of Gwadar. “Government should reduce its expenditures and give relief to the masses”, the Maulana claimed.

GRM had staged massive protest rallies last year in the country’s port city. The Maulana had also led a rally of a large number of women in Gwadar to mount pressure on the governmnent for acceptance of their demands.  Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Quddus Bizenjo had assured solution of all demands of the GRM.
