CHAMAN:
Trade activities resumed here on Saturday morning at the Pak-Afghan border in Chaman after a cease-fire between Pakistani and Afghan forces. Pedestrian movement and trade activities were severely affected as a result of unprovoked Afghan Taliban firing in Pakistani territory the other day.

“Things are going smooth now”, a senior security official told Daily Quetta Voice. He requested anonymity since he was not authorized to speak to the media. Unprovoked firing by the Afghan Taliban in the Pakistani territory had claimed 8 human lives and over three dozen people were injured.

“Security has been beefed up at the border”, the official said. He said frontier corps personnel were already deployed at the border to maintain the order. Life also came to normalcy in the bordering villages after an unannounced cease-fire at the border.
Senior security officials visited various points at the border to review security arrangements. The officials instructed the soldiers to facilitate the tribesmen and common people and address their grievances.
