Police vehicle was burnt in Quetta

QUETTA: A police mobile was set ablaze by unknown agitators between Hockey Chowk and Chaman Phatak, escalating tensions in the area. Reports indicate that stones were pelted at the police by unknown accused at Hockey Chowk. In response, a heavy contingent of forces arrived and sealed the red zone with containment barriers. The situation remains tense, with increased deployment of police in the area.

Protestors at GPO Chowk distanced themselves from the violence, asserting that the agitators were not part of their peaceful demonstration. Former Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani condemned the government’s use of force, calling for dialogue to resolve the issues.

Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, central leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and provincial minister for irrigation, emphasized the importance of women’s honor in Baloch society. He warned against international forces and terrorists allegedly exploiting women to destabilize the province.

Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Chief of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), described the government’s actions as an operation against the Baloch people. The situation in Vita remains precarious, with authorities on high alert to prevent further unrest.

Bakht Muhammad Kakar, the Balochistan Minister however termed the ongoing protest as a conspiracy against the government. He said the provincial government was making hectic efforts to address the issue through peaceful means.
