Syed Ali Shah:

QUETTA: The provincial government of Balochistan is considering Agha Omar Ahmedzai as the next Home Minister, sources revealed, following the deseating of current minister Ziaullah Langove by the Election Tribunal of the Balochistan High Court (BHC). The government is considering Ahmedzai’s appointment if Ziallah Langove failed to win the legal battle at the apex court.

Langove’s disqualification came after Sardarzada Saeed Langove of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) successfully challenged his election. The tribunal’s decision in favor of Saeed Langove has thrown uncertainty over Ziaullah Langove’s position, with his only recourse being a stay order from the Supreme Court of Pakistan. If this fails, Agha Omar Ahmedzai is expected to assume the critical role in the Balochistan cabinet.

A source within the provincial government, under Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, confirmed that Agha Omar’s name is being actively considered for the post. However, Saleem Khan Khoso, the parliamentary leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the Balochistan Assembly, has reportedly refused the offer to take charge of the home ministry.

As Ziaullah Langove continues to seek legal recourse, the future leadership of Balochistan’s law and order portfolio remains in limbo.
