Manan Mandokhail:

QUETTA: Severe cold and dry weather continue to grip Balochistan, with temperatures dropping as low as -8°C in some areas. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Quetta and Kalat was recorded at -7°C, while Ziarat experienced the coldest night at -8°C.

The freezing winds in Quetta caused water on roads and in drainage systems to freeze. Other cities in Balochistan also recorded low temperatures, with Nokundi at 4°C, Sibi at 3°C, Jiwani at 9°C, Turbat at 10°C, and Gwadar at 11°C.

The Meteorological Department predicts that the next 24 hours will see cold and dry weather persisting across most districts of Balochistan. Mountainous regions are expected to experience extremely cold conditions during the night and early morning hours.

Meanwhile, in Gilgit-Baltistan, the weather is forecast to remain severely cold with partly cloudy skies.

Over the past 24 hours, most parts of the country experienced cold and dry weather, with freezing conditions reported in hilly areas. Light rain occurred in northeastern Punjab and Kashmir, while smog and fog affected visibility in Punjab’s plains and upper Sindh.

These harsh conditions emphasize the need for residents to take precautions against the freezing weather, particularly in vulnerable areas of Balochistan.
