Health Desk:

Quetta – A new polio eradication campaign in Balochistan started on Monday, but disagreements about its execution raise serious concerns. The Grand Health Alliance Balochistan has opposed plans for hospital privatization and public-private partnership policies, which previously delayed the campaign twice in the province.

With 27 polio cases reported in Balochistan, the province faces a growing public health threat. The Grand Health Alliance has criticized the decision to involve untrained and non-professional staff for the campaign instead of experienced health department personnel, citing significant risks to children’s health.

Why the Concerns Over Polio Campaign Staff?
Sources indicate that new recruits lack adequate knowledge about the polio vaccine’s efficacy and the importance of maintaining the vaccine cold chain. These gaps could compromise the campaign and potentially spread the disease through improper vaccination practices.

Call to Action: Ensuring Safe Polio Campaigns
Healthcare experts and the Grand Health Alliance have urged the government to prioritize trained and experienced personnel for the campaign. They warn that rushing an unprepared campaign could lead to more polio cases, further worsening Balochistan’s already critical health situation.
