Quetta, January 27: In a decisive move to combat smuggling, Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan chaired a high-level meeting focused on curbing the illegal trade of sugar, wheat, urea, petroleum products, narcotics, and weapons.
The review meeting was attended by senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Home Shahab Ali Shah, Brigadier FC Amanullah, Secretary Food Muzaffar Zeeshan Lehri, and Quetta Commissioner Hamza Shafqat, along with representatives from law enforcement agencies. Divisional commissioners joined via video link.
Chief Secretary Khan called for enhanced coordination between federal and provincial authorities to prevent smuggling effectively. He directed that stringent checks be implemented at all checkpoints, especially for sugar and urea, and emphasized improving the trace-and-track system for better oversight.
Preventing smuggling is a top priority. All departments must work together to safeguard resources and take strict action against violators, Khan said. He also urged law enforcement agencies to accelerate their anti-smuggling operations and improve their preparedness for emerging challenges.
This renewed push against smuggling aims to protect Balochistan economy and ensure the fair distribution of essential goods across the province.
