From Our Correspondent:

KARACHI: The Sindh Home Department issued a notification on Tuesday, withdrawing the detention order against Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leader Sammi Deen Baloch under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance. She was subsequently released.

Sammi and five others were initially arrested on March 24 for allegedly violating newly imposed Section 144 restrictions during protests against human rights violations.

Although a judicial magistrate dismissed the charges and ordered their release the next day, she was re-arrested under the MPO with a 30-day detention order.

Her detention sparked widespread condemnation from human rights organizations, political parties, and civil society members, who demanded her immediate release.
