Harnai (Special Correspondent) — After a nine-month suspension, the Harnai-Sibi Railway Section has finally been restored. A successful trial train journey took place on April 21, with the train departing in the morning and arriving at Harnai Station by 5:00 PM.
The restoration of the railway line sparked joy among the local population. Citizens appreciated the efforts of Balochistan’s Minister for Food, Haji Noor Muhammad Khan Dummar, and Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan, who played a vital role in completing the project.
A large crowd gathered at the station to welcome the train, including Colonel Arbab Khan of FC Wing 81, SP Harnai Abdul Hafeez Jhakarani, and community members, all celebrating the return of rail connectivity to the region.
It is worth mentioning that the rail service had been suspended since July 13 of last year due to severe monsoon rains and flash floods that heavily damaged the railway track at multiple points. After months of repair work by the Pakistan Railways team and under the security support of FC Balochistan, the section is now functional once again.
During the repair and reconstruction phase, FC ensured foolproof security measures. Moving forward, FC Balochistan will also provide security for passengers and trains operating on this route.
Local traders, civil society groups, and residents expressed gratitude to the provincial minister, IG FC, and the Commandant of Loralai Scouts for fulfilling their commitment made during the Harnai Peace Jirga.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Haji Noor Muhammad Dummar stated that the restoration of the Harnai Railway Section has resolved a longstanding issue for the people and businesses of the district. He also announced that efforts will soon begin— in coordination with the Federal Minister for Railways — to construct protective walls near flood-prone streams along the railway track to prevent future disruptions.
