QUETTA, April 29, 2025 — The Balochistan provincial cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, held a crucial meeting on Tuesday at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to discuss national and provincial developments, while approving a series of significant policy decisions.
Strong Condemnation of Indian Allegations
At the outset, the cabinet strongly condemned India’s baseless accusations against Pakistan following an incident in the Indian state of Pahalgam. The cabinet regretted that despite Pakistan’s offer for transparent investigation, India chose provocation over peace—posing a serious threat to regional stability.
Solidarity with Noshki Tragedy Victims
The cabinet expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident in Noshki and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Chief Minister Bugti commended the swift response of the health department and rescue teams in providing timely assistance to victims.
Crackdown on Smuggling and Law Reforms
In a major move, the cabinet ordered immediate action against ongoing smuggling operations across the province and called for a full investigation into the matter. Several legislative and administrative reforms were also approved, including:
- Establishment of a special court to protect the property rights of overseas Pakistanis
- Amendments to the Anti-Terrorism Act
- Formation of a Center of Excellence to counter extremism
- Improvements in the Civil Servants and Employees Benefit Policy
- New regulations to eliminate forced labor and safeguard persons with disabilities
- Introduction of a ship recycling law for environmental protection
Economic Relief and Job Creation
To manage wheat reserves efficiently, the cabinet approved the release of current stock to open markets and decided against new wheat procurement. Additionally, all vacant government posts from grade 1 to 15 will be publicly advertised to boost employment across the province.
Boost to Public Safety Infrastructure
The cabinet sanctioned Rs140 million for the Quetta Safe City Project and directed its completion by June 2025, aiming to enhance urban security through modern surveillance and monitoring systems.
Chief Minister’s Vision for Peace and Progress
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Bugti stated, “These cabinet decisions lay the foundation for a new, peaceful, and prosperous Balochistan where transparency, justice, and rule of law are paramount.”
