Quetta – Alarming developments have surfaced in the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Package, as Accountant Muhammad Abdul Qudoos is accused of unlawfully cancelling government-awarded scholarships for Balochistan students. The package, launched to empower Baloch youth through education, offered scholarships for both national and international institutions. However, recent documents provided by affected students reveal that their scholarships were arbitrarily revoked by the accountant.
Legal experts stress that cancelling scholarships is beyond the authorized powers of an accountant, making this a clear case of administrative overreach and potential misconduct. The alleged cancellation of scholarships without legal authority has sparked outrage among students and civil society.
Despite media efforts to contact Muhammad Abdul Qudoos for his response, he has remained silent. In reaction, students have announced their intention to file a case in civil court, seeking justice and financial compensation for the damages they have suffered.
The affected students have also appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari, HEC Chairman, Federal Education Minister, and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti to initiate an immediate inquiry into the matter. They demand strict action against the accountant for abuse of power and illegal interference in scholarship allocations.
Moreover, it has been revealed that several Balochistan-based media outlets had previously requested transparency from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) regarding the implementation of the scholarship program. However, HEC has failed to respond, even after seven months.
This developing story has raised serious concerns about corruption in scholarship distribution in Balochistan, prompting demands for accountability and reforms in the educational aid system.
