In a significant development in the tragic case of Musawir Khan, the child abducted from Quetta in late 2024, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Aitzaz Ahmed Goraya has confirmed that DNA testing has verified the identity of the recovered body as that of the missing child. The confirmation has brought heartbreaking closure to the grieving family and renewed focus on bringing those responsible to justice.
During an exclusive briefing, DIG Goraya revealed critical details of the investigation. He stated that non-custom-paid vehicles were used in the abduction, pointing to the involvement of cross-border smuggling networks. He further disclosed that the crime has links extending into Afghanistan and Iran, with consular officials from both countries being contacted during the investigation to assist in tracing the suspects.
According to the DIG, five individuals were directly involved in the kidnapping. Four of the suspects are reportedly Afghan nationals, while the fifth is believed to be a local. Law enforcement agencies are now closing in on these individuals, and a major breakthrough in arrests is expected soon.
“This was not an ordinary case—it was a high-profile, organized kidnapping,” said DIG Goraya. “We extended our efforts internationally. Assistance was sought from foreign social media platforms, and coordination took place with Iranian and Afghan consulates to trace leads beyond our borders.”
The case has drawn widespread public attention and concern, especially after Musawir’s lifeless body was recovered from a deserted area in Mastung district, several months after his disappearance. The chilling details have left the public shaken and demanding justice for the innocent life lost.
DIG Goraya concluded by stating that intelligence gathered during the investigation indicates the involvement of the outlawed Islamic State (IS) group in orchestrating the abduction. Authorities are now exploring all possible angles, including the group’s potential regional network and facilitators, to ensure that no element behind this brutal crime goes unpunished.
