Quetta, July 21: The Balochistan High Court has taken suo moto notice of a disturbing video circulating on social media that allegedly shows the cold-blooded murder of a young woman in the name of honour.

According to an official press release issued by the High Court, Chief Justice Mr. Rozi Khan Bareech has directed immediate attention to the incident after the video sparked public outrage across the country. The footage, which reportedly shows a harrowing act of violence, has raised serious concerns about law enforcement’s response and the wider issue of gender-based violence in Balochistan.

In response, the court has summoned key provincial and federal officials to appear before the bench on July 22, 2025. Those summoned include the Chief Secretary Balochistan, the Inspector General of Police.

The High Court has demanded a detailed explanation of the incident, including what steps have been taken so far to apprehend the culprits and ensure justice for the victim. The court has emphasized the need for immediate and transparent action to hold all those involved accountable, regardless of their influence or power.

This landmark move by the Balochistan judiciary is being seen as a significant step toward upholding the rule of law and sending a strong message against honour-based violence.
