Quetta: Opposition legislators inside police station for third consecutive day

QUETTA: Opposition legislators remained inside the Bijli road police station for a third consecutive day in their protest against the Balochistan government. “Withdraw your FIR or register ours”, Malik Sikandar Advocate, the Opposition leader in Balochistan Assembly said.
Opposition members in Balochistan Assembly offered voluntary arrests at Bijli road police station on June 21. Over 17 members from the opposition benches walked from Balochistan Assembly to the police station to offer arrests.
“We cannot arrest lawmakers”, Police
“We cannot arrest the lawmakers without the approval of speaker Balochistan Assembly”, a senior police officer said. He requested anonymity. Opposition’s arrests have come after the registration of the First Information Report (FIR) against its members. “We offered volunteer arrests”, Maulana Wasey, the provincial amir of Jamiat ul Ulema e Islam (F) said.
Govt ministers meet opposition members
Balochistan ministers including Mir Ziaullah Langove, Saleem Khosa, and Mir Arif Jan Muhammad Hassani visited the police station and held negotiations with opposition members. The ministers requested the opposition lawmakers to end their protest and come to the assembly to discuss the budget.
