Measles epidemic kills 3 children in Killa Abdullah

The measles epidemic has killed 3 children in Balochistan’s Killa Abdullah district. The children belonged to one family of Killi Foladzai of Killa Abdullah, health sources told Quetta Voice.

Sources said the measles epidemic has also infected dozens of the children in the same village. However, the District Health Officer (DHO), Abdul Qadir Khoso said samples of three children were taken for laboratory tests.

“We can confirm their death after laboratory report”, Mr. Khoso stated. He informed that the health department launched an anti-measles campaign for eight days in Killa Abdullah.

Although, the health sources mentioned that parents continue to refuse measles vaccination like polio in various villages of the district. The number of chronic refusals regarding the poliovirus is in the thousands. In 2021, district Killa Abdullah has reported a confirmed case of the crippling virus. This is the only case reported across the country since January 1st, 2021.
