Several students injured during protest against PMC in Quetta

Several students were injured during a protest against Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) in Quetta on Wednesday. Police baton-charged the protesting male and female students. The protesters have been whisked away in police vehicles from the Hockey Chowk area of Quetta. “Around two dozen students arrested by police”, a police official told Quetta Voice. He requested anonymity. Home Minister Balochistan, Mir Ziaullah Langove took notice of the arrest and ordered the release of students. “Students are our future and I order their immediate release”, he said.
Students staged a protest demonstration against an online medical test in Quetta. Dozens of male and female students marched from Bolan Medical College (BMC) and staged a protest demonstration at Hockey Chowk Quetta. A huge contingent of police was deployed to avert any untoward incident. Dozens of enraged students gathered outside Quetta Press Club and staged a protest demonstration. “It was out of course”, Damroz Baloch, a protesting student said. He also opposed conducting online test by PMC in Balochistan.

“We don’t accept this online test”, Naseebullah, a student protester said. Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) has launched medical tests across the country for admission of students in medical colleges of the country.
Students’ protests severely affected the flow of traffic. Long queues of vehicles could be witnessed at the main Hockey Chowk because of the protest. “Students had already opposed the online test”, Naseebullah said.
Thousands of students appearing in MDCAT test in Balochistan
Thousands of students are appearing in the MDCAT test in Balochistan to get medical seats in the colleges of the province. This is for the first time that PMC is conducting online tests for students.
The protesting students also demanded of the provincial government to release the students. They warned of intensifying their protest against the government.
