Bizenjo vows construction of buildings for Balochistan shelterless schools

QUETTA: Chief Minister, Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has vowed construction of buildings for shelterless schools in Balochistan to ensure the provision of basic facilities to the students. The CM inaugurated the Balochistan Education Support Program (BESP) II  at a local hotel on Tuesday.

“No more shelterless buildings in Balochistan”, Mr. Bizenjo told the inaugural ceremony. The number of shelterless schools across Balochistan is in the thousands. Former Secretary of Education, Sher Khan Bazai revealed that 8,188 schools had no toilet facility.

“My government has decided to ensure the provision of basic facilities to schools”, the CM Balochistan stated. He said the promotion of health and education sectors were among the top priorities of the government. Mr. Bizenjo however lamented that doctors and teachers were not performing their duties in Balochistan. “Everyone wants to be posted in Quetta”, he added. “We have to discourage this trend”, he suggested.

UNICEF, European Union representatives were also present

Provincial Education Minister, Mir Naseebullah Marri, Zamarak Khan Achakzai, representatives from the UNICEF, European Union were also present on the occasion.

The CM mentioned that the promotion of health and education sectors was also one of the major reasons behind the political change in Balochistan. The backwardness of the province is no more a secret and every sector demands full attention to address the grievances of the masses, he said.

Still more than one million children out of schools

Mr. Bizenjo admitted that still more than one million children most of them girls were out of school in Balochistan. He said the provincial government alone cannot solve all issues relating to education in Balochistan. The CM demanded of the European Union and UNICEF to extend all possible cooperation to the government of Balochistan to improve the state of basic facilities in government-run schools in the province.

Secretary Education Balochistan, Abdul Rauf Baloch, and UNICEF Education Specialist, Palvasha Jalalzai also addressed the inaugural ceremony.
