CHAMAN: Tribal elders and representatives of the Chaman Chamber of Commerce visited the quarantine center established at the Pak-Afghan border on Friday. Colonel Rashid Siddique, the Commandant Chaman Scouts briefed the tribal elders and representatives of the Chaman Chamber of Commerce regarding the steps taken with regard to the establishment of quarantine centers and facilities provided. Former provincial minister, Naseer Ahmed Bacha Khan and other elders were present on the occasion,
Colonel Rashid Siddique informed that separate tents and washrooms were established for women in view of tribal norms and values at the quarantine center. After the opening of the border, the people entering into Pakistan would be quarantined for 14 days as per policy.
Pakistan has established a quarantine center at Pak-Afghan border Chaman to halt the spread of deadly coronavirus. Pakistan had closed its border with Afghanistan on March 2nd this year in the aftermath of reports of coronavirus in the neighboring country.
The Commandant said around 900 people can be quarantined at one time at the center and power supply was provided to the center on an emergency basis to make sure provision of all basic facilities.
The tribal elders and members of the business community hailed the efforts of government and Frontier Corps with regard to the establishment of a quarantine center and ensuring peace in the bordering city.
