CHAMAN: Pakistan opened its border with Afghanistan on Monday as a goodwill gesture to allow Afghans to enter their country. A large number of Afghans carrying passports were allowed to enter their country. Long queues of Afghans were witnessed during the opening of the border.

The border was opened as a goodwill gesture to facilitate Afghans after more than a month. The border would remain opened from April 6 to 9 for three days to support Afghans by the Pakistan government.

However, Pakistanis stranded in Afghanistan were not allowed to enter. The officials said the Pakistani national coming from Afghanistan would be quarantined at the border for 14 days to half the spread of coronavirus.

Pakistan has already established a quarantine center that comprises over 800 tents to quarantine people coming from Afghanistan.

Strict security measures were adopted by the administration on the eve of the opening of the border with Afghanistan.
