Health Desk:
An anti-polio campaign is underway in Quetta and other Balochistan to provide drops to children under the age of five years. The anti-polio campaign began on Monday in Quetta and all 34 districts of the province.
During the campaign, over 2.6 million children under the age of five years are being provided polio drops. The Balochistan health department, UNICEF, rotary club, and world health organization have been making coordinated efforts to eradicate the crippling virus from Balochistan.
So far, Balochistan has not reported any polio cases during last more than a year. Unfortunately, three cases were reported from North Waziristan this year.
The government has established teams throughout the province to make the campaign a success and reach every child for polio drops. Mobile volunteers have also been deployed at all bus stops, railway stations, and airports to ensure the provision of drops to every child under the age of five years.
