QUETTA: The death toll rose to 77 in Balochistan rains and floods after recovering 14 dead bodies within the last two days. Most of the deaths were reported from Quetta, Zhob, Loralai, Bolan, Pishin and other rains affected parts of Balochistan.

Women and children are also among the dead. Rains-related incidents have left over four dozen people injured. “Floods have breached 8 dams across Balochistan”, the Director-General of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Naseer Ahmed Nasar told Daily Quetta Voice.

All the injured were admitted to government-run hospitals throughout the province. The Balochistan health department has already canceled the Eid holidays of all health professionals in view of floods and rains. The government has also declared an emergency in all government-run hospitals to cope with any emergency situation.

Commander 12-Crops visits PDMA Office

Commander 12-Corps, Lieutenant General Sarfaraz Ali visited the PDMA’s office to review the ongoing rescue and relief operation in Balochistan. The Commander assured provision of all possible support to the PDMA and other civilian organizations engaged in the rescue and relief operation, an official handout issued on Monday evening said.

The DG PDMA briefed the commander about the ongoing operations in the province.

A technical team of Irrigation department visits dams

A technical team of the Balochistan Irrigation Department visited various dams in the province on the directives of Chief Minister Mir Quddus Bizenjo and Chief Secretary Abdul Aziz Uqaili. “Government will not leave the people in this hour of trouble”, the CS assured the people. He offered fateha for the departed souls of the people who lost their lives in recent floods and rains.

The CS Balochistan said the government would compensate the families who lost their loved ones in the flooding.

Balochistan Home Minister, Mir Ziaullah Langove said the PDMA had provided tents, blankets, food and medicines to the flood-affected people in various areas of the province.
