Killer of former CJ BHC arrested from Kharan: DIG CTD Balochistan

QUETTA: The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Ayetzaz Ahmed Goraya on Saturday said the killer of former chief justice Balochistan High Court (BHC), Muhammad Noor Meskanzai was arrested from Kharan. 

“The accused Shafqatullah has confessed to killing the former chief justice”, Ayetzaz Goraya told reporters at a crowded press conference. Former CJ BHC Muhammad Noor Meskanzai was killed in a firing incident outside a mosque on October 14 this year month. Mr. Goraya said the accused were getting instructions from his commander based in a neighboring country. He preferred not to mention the name of the country.

Accused confesses killing Muhammad Noor Meskanzai

Ayetzaz Goraya stated that the accused has also confessed to carrying out various terrorist activities in Balochistan. During the press conference, the video of the accused Shafqatullah was played before the journalists.

“I have entrusted the task to kill Muhammad Noor Meskanzai”, the accused in the video admits. He said he had carried out other terrorist activities as well. He also disclosed the names of two co-accused involved in terror activities in Balochistan.

The outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) had claimed the responsibility for killing the former top judge of the province.

CTD Chief was leading the JIT probing the murder of Meskanzai

The Balochistan government had formed a Joint Interrogation Team (JIT) comprising officers of all law enforcement agencies to apprehend the elements behind the killing of Muhammad Noor  Meskanzai. The DIG CTD was leading the JIT.

When asked about attacks on polio workers in Pishin and Chaman, he said efforts were on to apprehend the culprits involved in attacks on polio workers in Balochistan. “There is a long list of martyrs of security forces and police”, the CTD police chief stated.

Mr. Goraya however dispelled the impression about the killing of missing persons in custody. He said the CTD produces every accused before the court of law and trials him as per law of the land.
