QUETTA: The Balochistan University of Information Technology Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) staff association has voiced its frustration over delayed employee salary payments, an ongoing issue that has now extended to this month.

The employees ‘ demands remain unmet despite a year-long protest campaign, including a symbolic hunger strike at the Press Club and demonstrations outside the Balochistan Assembly. Earlier, Chief Minister Balochistan had assured that a permanent solution to salary delays would be implemented, yet salaries have not been disbursed on time.

In a recent statement, the association condemned issuing show-cause notices to respected faculty members by Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Hafeez and criticized the filing of a High Court case against the association itself. The association labeled these actions as undemocratic and anti-employee, further escalating employee discontent.

The BUITEMS Staff Association has urged both the Chief Minister and Governor of Balochistan to prioritize salary payments, allowing employees to work with peace of mind. Additionally, the association has called for an audit system within higher education institutions to prevent corruption and promote accountability.
