Quetta, February 11 – Divorce and Khula (dissolution of marriage by wife) cases have surged at an alarming rate in Quetta and across Balochistan in recent years, highlighting growing social and family issues.

Key Statistics:

• In 2024, 1,000 cases were filed in Quetta’s family courts seeking termination of marriage.
• Divorce-related cases have been reported from several districts, including Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Hub, Johi, Gwadar, Turbat, Sibi, Jaffarabad, Dera Allah Yar, Pishin, Kuchlak, Killa Saifullah, Chaman, and others.
• The sharp rise in these cases has created concern among citizens, as both men and women increasingly turn to courts to end their marriages.

Reasons Behind the Increase:

According to legal experts, the primary reasons for the rise in divorce and Khula cases include:
• Financial difficulties
• Domestic disputes
• Lack of marital satisfaction
• Unfavorable social conditions

30% Increase in Cases Compared to 2023:

Local lawyers revealed that the number of such cases has risen by 30% in 2024 compared to 2023, indicating a troubling trend of family breakdowns.

This growing issue calls for serious attention from social organizations, policymakers, and community leaders to address the underlying causes and promote family stability.
