Syed Ali Shah, News Desk:

On the ninth anniversary of the 8th August tragedy, the legal community gathered at the Balochistan High Court to remember the victims and reflect on the ongoing struggle for justice. The condolence reference was jointly hosted by the Supreme Court Bar Association, Balochistan High Court Bar Association, Balochistan Bar Council, and Pakistan Bar Council.

Speakers at the event recalled that nine years have passed since the attack in which 56 lawyers lost their lives, yet the perpetrators have not been brought before a court. They expressed concern that although arrests were made, the suspects were killed in armed encounters before they could be tried, leaving the case unresolved.

They also criticised the 26th Constitutional Amendment, stating that it had weakened the rule of law and adversely affected the country’s governance.

The speakers emphasised that the black coat remains a powerful emblem of the legal profession, representing unity, resilience, and the ability to confront challenges. They urged the legal fraternity to remain united, safeguard the principles of justice, and work collectively to uphold constitutional rights through proper implementation of the law.

The reference concluded with a renewed call for accountability, the enforcement of constitutional provisions, and the resolution of cases that continue to affect the legal community and the public.

The event was attended by Supreme Court Bar Association President Mian Muhammad Raouf Atta Advocate, Senator Kamran Murtaza Advocate, Rahib Buledi Advocate, Mir Attaullah Langove Advocate, Ali Ahmad Kurd Advocate, Amanullah Kakar Advocate, Yasin Azad Advocate, Ayesha Malik Advocate, Asif Naswana Advocate, Sarfraz Metho Advocate, Khalil Ahmed Panezai Advocate, Qari Rehmatullah Advocate, Haroon Rashid Advocate, Tauseef Asif Advocate, Naseer Ahmad Kayani Advocate, Asad Abbasi Advocate, Abdul Ghani Khilji Advocate, along with many other members of the legal fraternity.
