Quetta – In a proud moment for Pakistan, Dr. Muhammad Javed Tareen, a distinguished agricultural scientist from Balochistan, has been elected as a member of the Global Council of the World Agriculture Forum (WAF).

The honor recognizes Dr. Tareen’s outstanding contributions to agricultural research, innovation, and sustainable farming practices at both national and international levels.

The World Agriculture Forum, modeled after the World Economic Forum, is a global organization headquartered in the Netherlands, with regional offices in the United States and Rome. It works to promote sustainable agriculture, food security, and modern farming technologies around the world.

Dr. Tareen currently serves as a Grade-20 Senior Technocrat in the Department of Agriculture, Government of Balochistan. He holds a Ph.D. in Agriculture from Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, and has conducted advanced research on modern agricultural technology at Curtin University of Technology, Australia.

Speaking about his selection, Dr. Tareen said:

“This is not just my personal achievement — it’s a great honor for Pakistan, and especially for Balochistan. For the first time in history, a Pakistani agricultural expert has been chosen to serve on the Global Council of the World Agriculture Forum. I am proud that this recognition has come to our province.”

His appointment is being celebrated as a milestone for Pakistan’s agricultural sector, highlighting the growing global recognition of the country’s research talent and scientific expertise in agriculture.
