Quetta:
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan, following the directives of Chairman NAB Lt. (R) Nazir Ahmed Butt, observed International Anti-Corruption Day 2025 with a seminar and an awareness walk at the NAB Balochistan Complex. The event brought together university faculty members, students, competition winners, senior NAB officers, and media representatives, reaffirming the province’s commitment to transparency and accountability. The Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) and the Secretary Revenue also participated in the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Director General NAB Balochistan, Mr. Nauman Aslam, stressed that corruption remains a major barrier to socio-economic development and erodes public trust in state institutions. Reiterating the vision of the NAB Chairman, he highlighted the focus on pursuing mega corruption cases while discouraging frivolous complaints. He noted that this renewed direction aims to support sustainable progress and national prosperity.
DG NAB Balochistan also shared a major achievement—the successful transfer of one million acres of state land to the Forest Department, valued at more than Rs 1.3 trillion. The initiative, completed through cooperation between NAB Balochistan and the Board of Revenue, represents an unprecedented step in safeguarding government land in the province. The Chairman NAB and the Chief Minister Balochistan lauded this milestone, with the provincial government issuing an appreciation letter recognizing DG NAB Nauman Aslam and Case Officer Deputy Director Malik Waheed Ahmed for their professionalism and leadership.
Chairman NAB also conveyed special appreciation for SMBR Qambar Dashti and Secretary Revenue Varindar Lal, both of whom attended the ceremony and received appreciation certificates.
Highlighting the importance of youth involvement, the DG NAB emphasized that universities play a pivotal role in shaping honest and responsible future leaders. “The students of today will become tomorrow’s policymakers and professionals. Their commitment to integrity will shape the future of Pakistan,” he said.
The seminar featured multiple awareness activities, including an on-site walk, while debate, essay, art, and short film competitions held earlier under the campaign were also acknowledged. Winners and runner-ups received prizes and commendation certificates for their efforts in promoting anti-corruption themes.
DG NAB further acknowledged the media’s vital role in advancing transparency through responsible journalism, stressing the bureau’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with media and academic institutions as part of its preventative strategy.
The event concluded with a renewed call for unity, transparency, and ethical responsibility. The head of NAB Balochistan urged all citizens to reject corruption, avoid shortcuts, and uphold integrity in their everyday lives, affirming that a corruption-free Pakistan is possible through collective will and principled action.
