​QUETTA: In a major development, three suspects have confessed to the murder of prominent local businessman Mohammad Hashim Noorzai, the owner of Quetta’s famous Kabul Jan Hotel.
Senior police officials confirmed that the motive behind the high-profile assassination stems from professional jealousy and a deep-seated business dispute.
​The three suspects, residents of Satellite Town, Quetta, were quietly taken into custody three days ago during a targeted investigation. Law enforcement agencies have also successfully recovered the vehicle used in the attack.
​During interrogation, the suspects cracked and formally admitted to plotting and executing the assassination of the young entrepreneur.
​Jealousy and Business Dispute Cut Short a Young Life
​According to a senior investigator, the brutal killing was not a random act of street crime.
​”When questioned about the motive, the suspects confessed that intense professional jealousy and an ongoing business rivalry drove them to commit the crime,” the officer stated. “They explicitly targeted a young, energetic businessman who was rapidly scaling his business operations.”
​Hashim Noorzai was a highly respected figure in Quetta’s commercial landscape, recognized not only for his popular restaurant on Airport Road but also for his active involvement in the Afghan transit trade. Friends and colleagues remember him as a vibrant, hardworking individual whose sudden death has deeply shaken the local trading community.
​The Ambush at Baleli Bypass
​The tragic incident occurred on the morning of June 27. Noorzai was traveling from Kuchlak to Quetta when his vehicle was intercepted near the Baleli Bypass. Unidentified gunmen opened fire on his car, killing him on the spot before fleeing the scene.
​The brazen daytime attack sparked immediate outrage, prompting local traders and family members to stage a large-scale protest on the National Highway, demanding swift justice. The intense pressure led to the formation of a special police team, resulting in the successful tracing and arrest of the suspects within days.
​With detailed confessions secured and the getaway vehicle in police custody, authorities are finalizing the case file to present the suspects before the court.
