Levies man guarding polio team injured in Chaman attack

CHAMAN: Armed militants opened fire and injured a levies man guarding a polio team in Chaman on Sunday. Levies sources said the polio team was returning from its last catch up day, when attacked. Two polio workers survived the attack.
The rushed toward a house and sought refuge. However, a levies man Saddiq Sabat who was guarding the team got injured. Levies sources said Saddiq received a bullet injury at his leg. The injured levies man rushed to civil hospital Chaman for medical treatment.
People reached hospital after the incident
A large number of people reached the hospital to witness the condition of the injured levies man. Levies said the attackers were riding a motorbike and escaped unhurt from the spot. Levies and police personnel reached the spot to probe into the incident.
The Emergency Operation Cell (EOC) Quetta contradicted the report and said it had nothing to do with polio team. Health department government of Balochistan had launched anti polio campaign recently in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.
Over 2.5 million children under the age of five years provided anti polio drops duirng the campaign in all 33 districts of Balochistan. Balochistan has reported 20 cases of the crippling virus during the current year.
The number of chronic refusals high in Killa Abdullah district
Chaman is the headquarter of Killa Abdullah district of Balochistan. Most of the cases of the crippling virus reported from district Killa Abdullah in the province. The number of chronic refusals in Killa Abdullah is high as compared to other parts of the province.
