Opposition narrative must not harm State, State Institutions: Hashmi

QUETTA: Patron in chief of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and senior parliamentarian Senator (R) Saeed Ahmed Hashmi on Sunday said the opposition’s narrative must not harm State and State institutions. “Opposition’s narrative should not be at the cost of state institutions”, Mr. Hashim said while talking to reporters.
The 11-Party alliance had taken hard on the military establishment in its first public meeting in Punjab’s Gujranwala city on October 16.
An irresponsible attitude by some leaders of the opposition
“This appears to be an irresponsible attitude on the part of some leaders of the opposition”, the senior parliamentarian said. The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has launched a protest campaign against the government across the country. Mr. Hashmi stated that the former premier Nawaz Sharif’s speech was aimed at appeasing the enemy rather than highlighting the core issues of the masses. Yes, protest and public meetings are the right of every citizen and opposition parties, the BAP founder stated.
Pakistan facing external, internal enemies
Saeed Hashmi pointed out that Pakistan was facing external and internal enemies. The enemies can exploit this narrative of opposition to inflict harm to the state and state institutions. The former premier made a controversial statement against the military leadership on the day when 20 military men martyred in terrorist attacks in the country, he noted. “This is not acceptable”, Mr. Hashmi said. He urged upon all political parties to be careful with state enemies.
Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) is the main ally of the ruling Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) in the federal government. The BAP president Jam Kamal Khan heads the provincial coalition government in Balochistan province. The anti-government alliance i.e. PDM has announced to hold a public meeting in Quetta on October 25.
