Man accused of killing children confesses to committing crime: DIG Police

QUETTA: Deputy Inspector General of Police, Azhar Akram said the man accused of killing three children confessed to committing the crime. “The accused Iqbal arrested from Sibi”, the DIG Police told a crowded news conference at his office on Sunday.

Police had found the dead bodies of three children brutally murdered in Quetta’s Sariab road five days back. Police raiding party picked up main accused Muhammad Iqbal from Balochistan’s Sibi city on Saturday.

“The accused frequently visiting the house of children”

“The accused was frequently visiting the house of children”, Azhar Akram mentioned. Police produced the accused before the court amid tight security and got three-day remand.

“We collected all evidence and interrogated some family members that paved the way for the arrest of main accused”, he explained.

The accused was the driver of the family

The accused Iqbal was also the driver of the family. The broken family has not nominated anyone so far, the DIG Police said. He however reiterated that the accused confessed to committing the crime.

When asked about the reason behind the reason for the minor’s brutal murder, Mr. Azhar said, “It was a domestic issue and I cannot disclose this at this point in time”. He mentioned that the accused had also prepared to kill the parents of the children but they were at home.

“Basically, it was the accused’s hatred against the family that caused this tragedy”, the DIG Police said.

The ages of children were from five to ten years. One child critically injured in the incident. The brutal incident widely condemned on formal and social media with people asking for public hanging of the culprit.
