PMC punishing students for negligence of government: YDA Balochistan
Health Desk :
Young Doctors Association (YDA) Balochistan has expressed serious concern over framing new laws for students of three medical colleges of Balochistan by the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC). The PMC is trying to re-conduct tests of students studying at Jhalawan, Loralai, and Mekran medical colleges, the YDA said in a statement on Sunday.
“PMC continues to punish students for the negligence of government”, the YDA claimed. The PMC has linked examinations of the students for the registration of three medical colleges of Balochistan. “We will not allow the PMC to put the future of students at stake”, Dr. Rahim Babar, the Spokesman YDA warned.
PMC decision created unrest among students
This decision on the part of PMC has also created unrest among the students studying in all three medical colleges of Balochistan. “This is unfair”, Muhammad Siddique, a student at the Jhalawan medical college told Quetta Voice.
Secretary health Balochistan, Noor ul Haq Baloch, and other high-ups had also held meetings with concerned quarters at PMC and apprised them about the grievances of students. After three years, the government has taken it seriously and formed a committee to address the issue.
“Government has appointed faculty members to meet PMC criteria”, Mr. Baloch mentioned. The health department has also prepared proposals for the cabinet meeting on Monday (tomorrow) in this regard.
However, the YDA has made it clear that the PMC should not punish students for the poor infrastructure. “We stand by our students”, the YDA reiterated.
Thousands of students appeared in entry tests conducted by PMC
In Balochistan, around seven thousand students appeared in the tests conducted by the PMC for admissions in various medical colleges. The Bolan Medical College and other colleges displayed a merit list of students.
The students have been studying in all three medical colleges for almost a month. However, the sudden decision of the PMC has created anger and unrest among the students. The YDA has urged the Balochistan government to take effective steps for the registration of medical colleges.
