Pakistan, Thailand trade increases by 41 percent before COVID19

Bilateral trade between Pakistan and Thailand increased by more than 41 percent before the outbreak of COVID19. The Consul General of Thailand in Karachi Thatree Chauvachata and the Deputy Consul General  Apepan Chichao visited the Balochistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Consul General of Thailand revealed that bilateral trade between Pakistan and Thailand continues to boost and it increased by more than 41 percent prior to the outbreak of coronavirus. The trade between the two friendly countries reached 1468.96m US dollars during 2019. He however stated that the global outbreak of the deadly virus impacted the trade between the two countries.

Senior Vice-President of the Chamber, Haji Abdullah Achakzai, Vice-President Haji Akhtar Kakar received the diplomats and briefed them about the trade potential in Balochistan and issues of the business community.

Trade activities between the two countries resumed currently 

The Consul General informed that the movement of traders and business community from both countries have resumed recently. Although, he mentioned that the COVID19 has impacted the trade and reduced its volume as compared to the past.

The Chamber office-bearers informed the diplomats that a large number of members of the business community were visiting Thailand for trade. They demanded of the visiting diplomats to ease the visa process and give incentives to the businessmen to boost the bilateral trade.

The Consul General thus informed that nine meetings between business experts of the two countries held to boost bilateral trade and open new vistas of business. He said the role of members of the chamber of commerce was important in promoting trade and business activities between the two countries.

The office-bearers of the chamber of commerce later presented a memorial shield of the chamber to the visiting diplomat.
