Protest and shutter down in Loralai against killing of Israr Khan

LORALAI: Shutter down strike was observed and a protest demonstration was held against the murder of Israr Khan, a student brutally murdered in the Kohar Dam area of Loralai. Armed men opened fire and killed Israr Khan, a student near Loralai University.

All shopping centers, markets, and shops remained closed as a result of a strike observed during the incident. Three students were injured in the attack, which was widely condemned by political parties, civil society, and members of the legal fraternity.

“We want justice for Israr Khan”, Zank Khan, the uncle of the victim said. He said the police and administration must ensure the arrest of the killers involved in the killing of his nephew. Israr was the only brother of four sisters.

Attackers fled from the spot

The attacker fled from the spot and so far no arrest has been made in connection with the murder of student Israr Khan. Levies said the students had received bullets from a close range.

“Search is underway for the arrest of killers”, Jameel Baloch, Assistant Commissioner Loralai said. He said raids were being conducted in various parts of the district to apprehend the culprits behind the attack. Although, he said some suspects have been detained by the levies force.

Israr’s family sources said the accused had made the four students hostage and when they resisted the accused opened fire on them.

“Some elements want to disrupt the peace process in Balochistan”, Nasrullah Khan Zarai, a member provincial assembly, of the Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) stated. He urged the government to direct the Loralai administration to arrest the culprits behind the killing of the student.

Loralai administration had taken strict security measures to maintain the law and order situation on the eve of the strike. The flow of traffic was also thin on the roads of Loralai.

The killing of a student has come two days after armed men opened fire and assassinated the former chief justice of Balochistan High Court (BHC), Muhammad Noor Meskanzai.
