Balochistan faces financial crises: CM Bizenjo decides to meet PM

News Desk:

The Chief Minister of Balochistan sent a message on Friday to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Shehbaz Sharif in which he asked the PM to announce a special tariff for the gas consumers of Balochistan. Mr. Bizenjo appreciated the determination of the government of Pakistan to end the feeling of deprivation among the people of Balochistan.

Natural gas was discovered in Balochistan in 1954 and since 1955 the country has been benefiting from the low-cost gas produced by the Sui gas field, CM stated in the message.

The weighted average cost of gas has come down as a result of the low price of gas from the Sui gas field. Two-thirds of the gas from the Sui field is given to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). Only one-third of the gas is allocated to Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL).

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) provides services to 300,000 customers in Balochistan, most of whom are domestic customers. As a result of the severe cold and socio-economic situation of Balochistan, there is a need to introduce a special tariff in Balochistan.

Such arrangements will raise the standard of living in the province and reduce the burden on SSGCL. It is requested that a special gas tariff should be introduced for the Ministry of Energy Petroleum Division, Balochistan
