Iran would provide an extra 100 megawatts of power supply to Gwadar, Pakistan’s port city. This would ensure the provision of 24 hours power supply to Gwadar, which will promote the business, industry, and real estate business. This was announced by the Director-General of Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), Mujeeb ur Rehman Qambrani.

Mr. Qambrani took to the social media network Twitter and announced this decision. To meet Gwadar’s electricity needs, the governments of Pakistan and Iran signed an agreement to supply 100 megawatts of additional electricity in June 2022.

That the project should be completed in a short period of time as the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved the 132 kV transmission line from Jiwani to Gwadar last June. Construction of second circuit stringing of 132 KV, construction of transmission line from Jiwani to Gwadar (94 km) to be completed at a cost of Rs.2,322.940 million.

Gwadar relies on imported electricity from Iran and the construction of a 132 kV line will connect the coastal city to the national grid for the first time.
