Islamabad: The Supreme Court’s regular bench has temporarily set aside the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision of November 21, which had declared Adil Bazai de-seated.

The three-member bench, led by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and comprising Justice Aqeel Abbasi and Justice Ayesha Malik, reviewed the matter during a hearing on Monday. Adil Bazai’s legal counsel, Taimoor Aslam, referenced the ruling regarding reserved seats as part of his argument.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, in a lighter moment, questioned the counsel, “Are you seriously relying on the reserved seats ruling?” Justice Aqeel Abbasi further observed, “Now they claim amendments have already been introduced.”

Justice Ayesha Malik sought clarification, asking, “Can the decision on reserved seats be applied in this instance? Was Adil Bazai included in the list of 81 members for reserved seats?”
