Quetta: Two women, including a child, lost their lives in a gas leak explosion at a house in Hazarganji’s Killi Khazaan area, police reported on Friday.

According to police, the blast occurred due to gas leakage at the residence of Humayun Khan. The explosion claimed the lives of his wife and 10-year-old daughter, Bibi Zoya, while his son, Rais Khan, sustained injuries.

The injured boy received medical treatment at the burns ward of Civil Hospital and was later discharged. Authorities have launched further investigations into the incident.

This is not the first time a ghastly gas-related incident has claimed precious lives in Balochistan. Every winter, gas leakage, coupled with unannounced and prolonged gas load shedding, leads to tragic deaths in the resource-rich yet neglected province.

Despite repeated fatalities, the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) remains silent, showing little concern for public safety. These deaths rarely prompt any serious investigation or accountability, and no one questions SSGC’s role in the crisis.
