QUETTA – Two more victims of the tragic Nushki oil tanker explosion have succumbed to their injuries, raising the death toll to six, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
According to local authorities, the deceased have been identified as Jahanzeb Anwar, son of Muhammad Anwar, and another individual also named Jahanzeb, son of Muhammad Anwar, both residents of Nushki. The victims had been receiving treatment for severe burn injuries but could not survive due to the critical nature of their wounds.
The horrific incident occurred last week when a powerful explosion inside an oil tanker sparked a massive fire in Nushki. Dozens of people were injured as the flames spread rapidly, engulfing nearby areas. Most of the injured sustained critical burns, and several were airlifted to Karachi in a C-130 aircraft for advanced medical care.
Emergency response teams and rescue workers had rushed to the site immediately after the blast, launching a firefighting and evacuation operation. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest a buildup of fumes inside the tanker may have led to the deadly blast.
Balochistan government officials have expressed deep sorrow over the incident and promised comprehensive support to the victims and their families. A detailed inquiry has been ordered to determine the exact cause and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
