Landsliding killed a coal miner in Balochistan’s Harani district on Wednesday. Levies sources said the coal miner was working deep inside the mine when hit by a landslide. The coal miner breathed his last on the spot.

Rescue workers reached the affected mine and retrieved the dead body. The victim was identified as Hassanzada, a resident of Shangla Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The dead body was taken to district headquarters hospital Harnai. The hospital administration handed over the dead body to the heirs after the completion of necessary official procedures.

Thousands of miners are working in the coal mines of Balochistan. Most of the coal miners belong to Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa’s Shangla, Swat and other areas. However, coal miners from Afghanistan’s Southern parts are also working in the coal mines of Balochistan.

Hazardous working conditions inside the coal mines of Balochistan have claimed thousands of precious human lives. Such incidents have almost become the order of the day in Dukki, Harnai, Mach, Quetta and other parts of the province, which has rich coal reservoirs.
