QUETTA: A delegation of the Grower Action Committee, led by Malik Naseer Ahmad Shahwani, met with Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti to discuss the conversion of agricultural tube wells to solar energy. The meeting also included Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Noshirwani and Finance Secretary Babar Khan.
Chief Minister Bugti communicated with the Federal Secretary of the Power Division to address the solarization issues. The Federal Secretary informed him that due to engagements with the federal budget, progress had temporarily stalled.
“Solarization issues will be dealt with soon,” assured Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti. He highlighted that the provincial government has allocated ten billion rupees for the project in the next financial year’s budget.
The Chief Minister emphasized the benefits of shifting agricultural tube wells to solar power, stating, “This initiative will reduce complaints of power shortage.” He further added that load-shedding could be eliminated if consumers paid their bills regularly.
Chief Minister Bugti stressed the importance of raising public awareness regarding bill payments. “Conscious awareness has to be created among the people regarding the payment of bills,” he stated. He called on elected representatives to campaign for awareness among the populace.
This meeting marks a significant step towards addressing power issues in Balochistan through sustainable energy solutions, with the provincial government showing a strong commitment to improving the agricultural sector and reducing energy shortages.
