A landmine explosion killed a levies personnel and injured another 6 in Balochistan’s Kohlu district on Monday. The injured levies personnel were rushed to the Kohlu district headquarters hospital for medical treatment. An emergency was declared in the hospital to provide medical treatment to the injured by the blast.

According to Levies, elections were to be held on February 27 at specific seats in Union Council 20 Janat Ali Kohlu. All the election staff was stopped in the Dera Bugti area at night and the road clearance was underway in the morning when a Levies vehicle collided with a landmine, killing 1 Levies personnel on the spot and injuring another six.

The condition of the two injured is critical

The condition of two of the injured is reported to be critical. The injured person was shifted to Baker where they were shifted to CMH Quetta by helicopter. Shaheed Lewis officer Mohammad Aslam was from Kohlu and joined the Balochistan Levies Force a month ago.

The injured personnel includes Abdul Samad, Amanullah, Mohammad Ashraf, Haram Khan, and Abdul Sattar. Meanwhile, provincial education minister Mir Naseebullah Marri strongly condemned the attack on Levies in Janat Ali, saying that the enemy elements are trying to sabotage the law and order in the area. The sacrifices of the security forces will not go unnoticed, Mr. Marri concluded.
