QUETTA: A significant development is underway in Balochistan’s political landscape as a group of influential figures, including nearly a dozen electables from the former ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and other political groups, are reportedly on the brink of joining the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the province.
Former provincial ministers from BAP, such as Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, Noor Muhammad Dumar, Sardar Masood Luni, Toor Uthmankhail, and Dr. Rubaba Buledi, met with the former Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, in Quetta on Thursday night.
“We have essentially aligned ourselves with PML N”
According to one of the former provincial ministers who wished to remain anonymous, “It is only a matter of formal announcement; we have essentially aligned ourselves with the PML-N.”
The meeting was attended by several other prominent political figures, including Dostain Khan Domki, the brother of the caretaker Chief Minister of Balochistan, Ali Mardan Domki, Mir Mujeeb ur Rehman Muhammad Hassani, Mir Kareem Nowsherwani, and others. Ali Haider Muhammad Hassani, representing the Awaran district of Balochistan, also met with the PML-N leader.
All Ready To Join In The Presence of Nawaz Sharif
The gathering was organized and facilitated by the PML-N’s Balochistan Chief, Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, and is expected to have a notable impact on the political dynamics of the province.” Sources inside the meeting mentioned that all electables are likely to announce the joining of the PML N in the presence of party supremo Nawaz Sharif, the former prime minister.
Political pundits considered this event as one of the major unfolding events in Balochistan. This development has come after the election of Pakistan announced February 8, 2024, as the new date for the upcoming general elections in the country.
