South Waziristan: According to security sources, cross-border shelling from the Afghan side has once again targeted civilian areas near Angoor Adda in South Waziristan, leaving five people injured, including four children and a woman, officials and local sources confirmed.
According to reports, a mortar shell landed on a residential house in a border village, injuring children aged 13, 10, 8, and 3 years, along with an adult female. The injured were immediately shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Wana, where they are receiving medical treatment.
The incident has sparked fear and concern among local residents, who have repeatedly raised alarms over the safety of civilians living in border regions. Community members expressed grief over the latest attack, highlighting the ongoing risk faced by families in the area.
This is the second such incident in recent days, as earlier cross-border firing in the same region had left three individuals wounded, underscoring the persistent volatility along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Security sources said Pakistani forces responded promptly, targeting suspected firing positions across the border. Following the retaliatory action, the attackers reportedly withdrew from their positions.
Authorities have heightened security and surveillance in the region, while tensions remain elevated. The recurring cross-border incidents continue to pose serious challenges to civilian safety and regional stability.
